“Chillen” is a modern, aesthetically designed bench-sculpture created to become a favourite gathering place for children and young people. When children want to relax, talk, play or simply spend time with friends, they look for a cozy and inviting spot. The contemporary design of “Chillen” encourages not only sitting, but also lying down, sliding, climbing, leaning, exploring and moving actively, making it a versatile and functional play element for visitors of all ages. It is not just a bench, but an interactive play sculpture that gives public spaces a distinctive character and fosters a sense of community.

All Smartcity® collection objects, including “Chillen”, are inspired by the double-helix form reminiscent of the DNA structure of all living organisms. This design principle gives the piece harmonious, organic lines that blend naturally into any environment, energise the space and inspire movement, exploration and social interaction. “Chillen” is made from 100% ecological, sustainable Accoya® FSC-certified wood, specifically developed for outdoor use. This material is highly resistant to moisture, UV radiation, climatic influences and deformation, ensuring a minimum lifespan of 25 years outdoors. The structure requires very little maintenance and offers exceptional resistance to vandalism.

The bench-sculpture is manufactured according to the European safety standard EN 1176, ensuring maximum safety for children, ergonomic smooth shapes without sharp edges, and a comfortable user experience. Installation requires one foundation point, and the process takes around two hours with two professionals; a crane may also be required.

Additional options include the CerPlus® P101 antibacterial and UV-protective coating for Accoya® wood, a steel support structure for free-standing installation, and various accessories. A 5-year warranty is provided for wooden components and 2 years for moving parts. “Chillen” is more than a bench – it is a modern, ecological form of small architecture that enriches public spaces with uniqueness and offers children and young people endless possibilities to relax, play and spend meaningful time together.
