HPC Terrazzo Concrete Bench with Wooden Seat BS-232 | Urban Premium Collection

The strength of natural stone, the warmth of wood and balanced contemporary design – BS-232 from the Urban Premium Collection is a modern HPC Terrazzo concrete bench without backrest, featuring a comfortable seating surface available in softwood, Iroko, bamboo or Resysta® composite wood.

BS-232 is an elegant HPC Terrazzo concrete bench without backrest and with a wooden seat, designed for contemporary urban and landscape environments. Its design is based on the carefully balanced proportions and textures of two contrasting materials – solid architectural concrete and warm wood. This combination gives the bench a modern yet natural character.

The base of the bench is manufactured from High Performance Concrete (HPC) – premium-quality fibre-reinforced concrete characterised by excellent structural strength, stability and long-term durability. The distinctive HPC Terrazzo appearance is created using natural marble or granite aggregates, available in different shades and colour combinations. This provides architects and landscape designers with the flexibility to adapt BS-232 to the architectural style, paving, façades and overall colour concept of each project.

The concrete surface is carefully ground and polished, revealing the natural structure and beauty of the marble or granite aggregates. The polished surface is additionally treated with a special protective coating that increases resistance to demanding weather conditions, reduces dirt accumulation and helps preserve the refined appearance of the terrazzo surface over time.

One of the key design features of BS-232 is its wooden seating surface, which provides additional comfort while visually softening the monumental concrete structure. Depending on the requirements and aesthetic concept of the project, the seat can be manufactured from softwood, Iroko, bamboo or Resysta® composite wood.

Softwood provides a natural and welcoming appearance, while Iroko offers the rich aesthetics and distinctive character of exotic hardwood. Bamboo creates a contemporary look with a characteristic natural texture. For projects where durability and reduced maintenance are particularly important, Resysta® composite wood is an excellent alternative. It provides the warm appearance of natural wood while offering outstanding resistance to outdoor conditions. Resysta® does not crack, swell or rot, making it particularly suitable for intensively used outdoor street furniture.

The backless design of BS-232 provides greater flexibility when planning public spaces. The bench can be installed as a standalone seating element, arranged in groups or combined with other products from the Urban Premium Collection to create a coordinated and visually consistent urban environment.

The contrast between concrete and wood creates a subtle close-to-nature feeling, making BS-232 particularly suitable for environments with greenery, natural stone paving and contemporary architecture. Carefully balanced proportions and the combination of different textures transform the bench from a simple seating solution into an attractive architectural element.

BS-232 is ideally suited for parks, urban squares, alleys, plazas, promenades, pedestrian zones, gardens, playground surroundings, residential developments, business centres and other public or private outdoor spaces.

The BS-232 HPC Terrazzo concrete bench combines durability, comfort and contemporary aesthetics. Polished marble or granite terrazzo concrete together with a choice of softwood, Iroko, bamboo or Resysta® composite wood seating provides architects and landscape designers with excellent flexibility for different design concepts.

Urban Premium Collection BS-232 is a modern and durable outdoor concrete bench without backrest and with a wooden seat, created for projects where high-quality design, natural aesthetics and a harmonious connection with the surrounding environment are essential.

Description:

  • Our concrete products are manufactured from fibre-reinforced high-performance architectural concrete with natural marble or granite aggregates, ensuring exceptional strength, durability, and resistance to environmental conditions.
  • The polished or exposed aggregate terrazzo surface provides the appearance of natural stone, offers a pleasant tactile feel, is easy to maintain, and retains its elegant appearance for many years.
  • The protective surface treatment effectively protects against moisture, UV radiation, frost, and other atmospheric conditions, making the products ideal for heavily used public and private outdoor spaces.
  • Our terrazzo concrete products combine contemporary design, functionality, and long-lasting aesthetics, making them suitable for both modern and classical architectural environments.
  • These are premium-quality architectural concrete products designed for long-term use, combining reliability, outstanding appearance, and European quality.

HPC Terrazzo Concrete Technology:

  • High Performance Concrete (HPC) is a fibre-reinforced architectural concrete manufactured using high-quality grey or white Portland cement, natural marble or granite aggregates, and carefully selected mineral materials. This advanced concrete technology provides exceptional structural strength, long-term durability, and outstanding resistance to intensive daily use.
  • The distinctive terrazzo structure is created by integrating multi-coloured natural marble or granite aggregates throughout the entire concrete mass. The stone aggregates are not glued or applied to the surface but become an integral part of the product, ensuring an authentic terrazzo appearance and lasting performance.
  • After production, the surface is carefully ground and polished to expose the natural stone aggregates, creating a seamless terrazzo finish distinguished by its refined aesthetics, natural stone texture, and excellent wear resistance.
  • Depending on the product model, the surface may also be finished using Embossed Aggregate technology. This treatment enhances the natural texture of the marble or granite aggregates, adding depth, character, and a distinctive architectural appearance.
  • All surfaces are additionally protected with a hydrophobic impregnating treatment and protective lacquer, reducing water absorption, limiting dirt accumulation, and improving resistance to UV radiation, corrosion, frost, and other harsh environmental conditions.
  • Thanks to the fibre-reinforced HPC technology, the products offer outstanding resistance to mechanical damage, freeze–thaw cycles, weathering, and vandalism, making them ideal for intensively used public spaces as well as private outdoor environments.
  • HPC terrazzo concrete is fully recyclable, as its production process does not involve resins or polymer-based adhesives. Manufactured from natural mineral materials, it meets modern requirements for sustainability, durability, and responsible architectural design.

Wood:

  • Pine wood
  • Ash wood, hardwood
  • Resysta® is an innovative composite material specifically developed for demanding outdoor applications. It is an ideal choice for outdoor furniture, terraces, façades, and urban landscape elements. Made from 60% rice husks, 22% salt, and 18% mineral oils, Resysta® closely resembles tropical hardwood in appearance and texture while significantly outperforming it in durability, weather resistance, and long-term performance.
The material is resistant to rain, snow, frost, heat, and UV radiation. It does not rot, crack, warp, or develop mould. Thanks to its resistance to saltwater and chlorinated water, Resysta® is perfectly suited for coastal areas, swimming pools, and other challenging environments. It requires no impregnation, painting, or intensive maintenance, keeping lifetime maintenance costs to a minimum.
Resysta® is 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly. The manufacturer provides a 15-year warranty against cracking, deformation, and decay. Combining the natural appearance of wood with the strength and durability of advanced composites, Resysta® is an excellent choice for architects, municipalities, landscape designers, and property developers seeking reliable, long-lasting, and premium solutions for public and private spaces.
  • Iroko, exotic hardwood. Iroko wood is one of the most popular and durable wood types, which, when selected properly, ensures impeccable aesthetics and resistance to changing climatic conditions. The Iroko wood used in urban furniture is a tropical hardwood, highly resistant to temperature fluctuations, moisture, and winter cold.
  • The products are impregnated with oil 3 times or lacquered and prepared for outdoor use. Colors: Available color variants from the manufacturer.
  • The thickness of the wooden slats: 3-4 cm and more.

Terrazzo – premium-quality decorative surface made from marble and granite aggregates

Terrazzo is a luxurious, long-lasting and high-quality composite stone material made from marble, granite, quartz or other natural stone aggregates, bound with cement or epoxy. Due to its high content of decorative stone, Terrazzo delivers unique aesthetics and superior technical performance that clearly surpasses traditional concrete products.

Its surface is refined through a meticulous grinding and polishing process, revealing the natural stone mosaic and creating a premium, seamless finish. Terrazzo is denser, smoother, moisture-resistant and far more durable than ordinary concrete, making it ideal for both interior and exterior use.

Thanks to these qualities, Terrazzo is widely used for outdoor furniture, small architectural elements, planters, benches, countertops, stairs, façade details and other decorative products. It maintains its beauty and durability for many years, even under heavy use and changing weather conditions.

Differences between Terrazzo and traditional concrete products with granite aggregate

  1. Composition
    • Terrazzo: contains a high amount of marble and granite aggregate, giving the surface a seamless, luxurious look with rich colors. Each product is like a natural stone mosaic, where the stone is the main component and the binder only strengthens the structure.
    • Traditional concrete: the stone component is only a small fraction, while the base consists of cement and gravel. As a result, the surface often looks monotonous, flat, and less aesthetic.
  2. Structure and density
    • Terrazzo: due to its dense structure and low porosity, the material does not absorb moisture, dirt, or other contaminants. This provides durability and resistance to frost, heat, and mechanical impact.
    • Concrete: is porous and more absorbent, so it wears out faster, cracks, or accumulates dirt, especially outdoors. Moisture can also damage the structure, particularly in cold climates.
  3. Surface finishing
    • Terrazzo: the surface is ground and polished in several stages, revealing the natural stone pattern, colors, and texture. This finish not only enhances beauty but also makes cleaning easier.
    • Concrete: the surface is usually rough or only minimally smoothed, resulting in uneven light reflection and more difficult maintenance.
  4. Aesthetics
    • Terrazzo: provides a luxurious, rich, mosaic effect appreciated by architects and designers. Each product is unique – the aggregate pattern never repeats, creating a distinctive impression.
    • Concrete: looks simpler, uniform, and less decorative, so it does not always give interior or exterior spaces a distinctive look.
  5. Durability and longevity
    • Terrazzo: can last for decades as the surface retains its color, shine, and texture. Its wear resistance allows intensive use – both indoors and outdoors.
    • Concrete: wears out faster, loses color, absorbs dirt and moisture, and requires more maintenance and frequent renovation or restoration.

By choosing Terrazzo, you select a premium material that brings long-lasting beauty, uniqueness, and professional, architect-approved design to your space.
